Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader (A.R.) is a program that will have every student yearning to read books. It will have them eagerly practicing their reading at a high level of comprehension and proudly displaying their reading achievements and doing better in all subjects. Here at West Elementary, A.R. will be set up based on a point system as well as a “Club”. As students read books and pass tests, they will earn points and advance through the different levels of Clubs. The point and Club system for 1^st grade are as follows:

7^th Club	60	AR Beach Bash with pizza
Bonus Club	160+	Pella Party!

Test % must be 70% or higher to receive reward (4^th, 6^th, 7^th, and Bonus Clubs)

4^th Club Reward:o Any student that reaches the 4^th Club by the cut-off of December 12^th will attend Mugs ‘N Movies on December 18^th.o Any student that reaches the 4^th Club by the cut-off of April 3^rd will attend Mugs ‘N Movies on April 17th.

6^th Club Reward:o Any student reaching the 6^th Club by May 19^th will attend half day at the AR Beach Bash on May 29th.

7^th Club Reward:o Any student reaching the 7^th Club by May 19^th will attend a full day at the AR Beach Bash and enjoy pizza for lunch on May 29th.

Pella Party: Any student reaching the Bonus Club by May 19^th will attend a special field trip on June 1st.
